Bao Brewhouse and their PR agency, Chatter Club, brought me in to refresh the restaurant's photography for their menu and site. The brief called for something that felt lived in, real people eating with friends, not a stiff product shoot, so the concept became dinner as a messy still life instead of a plated one.

I leaned into the idea of documenting dinner like a messy still life; shooting action moments and capturing the deconstruction of plated food. I wanted to do a different take on food photography, something real, something raw. Anyone can photograph a perfect dish sitting untouched. A meal already in progress, flash popping, color running hot, tells a better story about what it's actually like to eat there.

The final set was edited to carry that same raw energy through post, with motion blur and saturated color standing in for the feeling of the room. These images now run across Bao Brewhouse's social channels, website, and menu.
