power lines: a women’s network
explores the visual language of women in the workplace before the digital era—when professional networks were built through phone calls, personal introductions, and word-of-mouth connections rather than algorithms.
Inspired by 1980s fashion editorials and the rise of women entering corporate leadership spaces, the series reimagines the aesthetics of power dressing, communication, and ambition through a contemporary lens. Bold color palettes, exaggerated silhouettes, and vintage technology—corded telephones, early computers, pagers—become symbolic artifacts of a pre-internet professional culture where connection was physical, direct, and personal.
The imagery presents women not as competitors but as collaborators. Each subject represents a different creative discipline, forming a visual ecosystem of mutual support and shared ambition. Together they embody a network built on trust, mentorship, and community rather than hierarchy.
The series reflects the mission of the client organization: a collaborative platform connecting women across creative industries through trusted recommendations and shared opportunities.
By referencing the visual language of 80s editorial photography while placing modern women at its center, Power Lines reframes nostalgia into a statement about the future of professional networks—community-driven, collaborative, and built by women.
