CREATIVE CRIBS

CREATIVE CRIBS | the blog series

Growing up I was really into the show MTV cribs because I could see how cool people chose to design, decorate, and live they way that expressed themselves.

The houses usually had 3 or 4 cars in the driveway, were filled with over the top embellishments, and there was always a shot of the fridge. It was cool to see inside the houses or in this case, mansions of these famous people and see the correlations between their lives and how they lived. Often times we personify our environments based on our interests and passions.

Now I’m not saying I’m gonna shoot everyone’s fridge, but MTV was onto something and I intend to start my own photographic study on people vs their things. I will be featuring creatives: anything from photographers to musicians to painters to stylists, anyone who creates or produces their own form of art. Creatives and their spaces, homes, studio apartments, studio spaces, or favorite places.

Introducing Creative Cribs: an MTV inspired study on people and their spaces.

We spend most of our time coming home to our space, we use it for sleeping, eating, creating, maybe not being able to create, having good and bad days, and basically just living. Our environment shapes us more than we know, and an intentional and curated space can do wonders for the brain.

By surrounding ourselves with our passions and interests, we can be reminded of and work towards our goals. The meticulous way in which we work, handle stress, come up with ideas, or chill can all be apparent in the way we arrange or decorate our spaces.

The purpose of this study is to find similarities between what people create and how they they live.
